Day 1: Arrival to Madeira International Airport
On arrival at Madeira Airport collect your chosen vehicle and documentation. After settling in, spend the rest of the day exploring Funchal attractions and the capital scenic surroundings. Stay the night in Funchal
Day 2: The Magic Nun’s Valley and Romantic Monte
Drive to the Magic Nun’s Valley and enjoy the dramatic scenery of the surrounding mountains and the hospitality of the locals, followed by an unforgettable visit to Madeira's most romantic village. Later in the evening head to Câmara de Lobos for a delicious typical dinner, where you can taste the excellent typical dish of Madeira the grill. Dinner is accompanied with Portuguese music and a group of Madeiran folklore. Drive to Eira do Serrado, Curral das Freiras and Monte. Stay the night in Funchal.
Day 3: Scenic Mountains and Lush Green Valleys
Today we drive to the interior of the island and up the mountains. Discover the island’s natural beauty, the impressive stunning mountains, the lush green valleys and crystal clear waters streams. Continue your journey driving through the stunning Laurissilva forests of Madeira Natural Park. Enjoy the beautiful and tranquil countryside, visit interesting typical and historical villages and learn about local traditions. Drive to Pico Areeiro, Ribeiro Frio e Santana. Stay the night in São Jorge.
Day 4: The Stunning North Coast
Begin the day discovering the magnificent North Coast. Explore the beautiful volcanic Caves. The São Vicente Caves were formed 890 thousand years ago by a volcanic eruption, which occurred in Paul da Serra. The outer part of the lava that was exposed to lower temperatures, solidified rapidly while the inside remained liquid with lots of gases, forming a series of lava tubes. The caves were first reported in 1885 by locals. They were among the first volcanic caves to be opened to the public in Portugal and may be visited by following an underground route running for over 1,000 m. The height of the caves varies between 5 and 6 meters. Your journey ends in the seaside village of Porto Moniz , where you shall not miss a relaxing soak in the crystal clear waters of the famous natural swimming pools. The unique natural pools of Porto Moniz are formed by volcanic lava, naturally filled with sea water. Drive to Boaventura, Ponta Delgada, São Vicente, Seixal e Porto Moniz. Stay the night in Porto Moniz.
Day 5: Amazing Lakes and Waterfalls
We start the day driving up mountains, where Madeira's unspoiled nature offers memorable landscapes. Today we have the opportunity to visit some of Madeira's top attractions, the spectacular Rabaçal waterfall and the fabulous 25 Spring Lagoon. The impressive valley of Rabaçal is one of the most beautiful in Madeira, surrounded by the luxuriant vegetation of Laurissilva forest, a UNESCO world natural heritage site. Drive to Santa do Porto Moniz, Rabaçal and Prazeres. Stay the night in Prazeres.
Day 6: Dramatic Cliffs and Seaside Villages
Today you travel south following the dramatic southern cliffs. Enjoy the stunning views of the immense ocean and the rugged landscape, a stunning visual experience of the beauty of the island wilderness. Some cliffs also offers a vertiginous view of the fajãs – small areas of cultivated land at the foot of the cliff – as well as magnificent panoramic views over the ocean and the vast landscape surrounding. You will also visit seaside villages, where you can swim in the crystal clear waters of the sea and taste delicious fish and shellfish dishes in the local restaurants. Drive to Paul do Mar, Jardim do Mar, Calheta, Madalena do Mar, Ponta do Sol, Ribeira Brava, Cabo Girão, Câmara de Lobos and Funchal. Stay the night in Funchal.
Day 7: Explore the Fabulous East Coast
Drive up and down the mountains, visit romantic landscapes, historical towns, seaside villages of volcanic black sand beaches and if you enjoy hiking you'll find many interesting trails. Drive to Camacha, Santo da Serra, Portela, Porto da Cruz, Ponta de São Lourenço, Machico, Santa Cruz and Funchal
Stay the night in Funchal.
Day 8: Departure
Depart to Madeira Airport return your car at the airport in time to catch your onward flight.
